About Me
I am a college graduate with my BS degree in Network and Communications Management. As of September 2008, I am also a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). In September of 2011 I received my CCNA Security specialization cert. I am also in the process of preparing to take the tests required for the CCNP. I am currently employed by British Telecom's Global Services/MNC division performing second line support for customers' data, voice over IP and call center solutions. For a more outlined view of what I do there, you can take a peek at my Resume Page.
It stands to reason, given my occupation, that I am interested in technology outside of my professional obligations. Of late this has taken the form of continued learning in subjects that I do not deal with professionally but might someday, somewhere etc. I am writing this and do the majority of my day-to-day browsing on a Mac; however, I also have plenty of experience in Windows and Linux/BSD environments. I am considering writing some "articles" on technology-related subjects to post on this site. We will see if that comes about.
I am, of course, interested in a number of other things which have little to no direct correlation to technology. I enjoy reading about a variety of subject matters -- I have always liked to think I subscribed to the theory of, "Know a lot about a little and a little about a lot," and from working in the IT field, I have learned that it is far more important to know where and how to learn a particular something than it is to come in knowing that particular something. If you rely on the latter you will have quite a bit of problems as there is simply no way to know everything you will need to in advance (though I suppose this applies to all occupations to one extent or another).
Anyway, I am also a fan of music and have played the guitar for some number of years now that I can't quite calculate. I am not as good at it as one might be who has played for whatever duration I have. In the past I have also played the piano (perhaps my largest hobby regret is giving it up) and sang in a few different choral situations -- at present with the Men's Chorus at my church. Naturally, I also enjoy listening to other people's music as well. I do this mostly in my car due to my long travel time to and from work; however, I most enjoy listening with my record player which is hooked up to a pair of JBL 4410 Studio Monitors.
About This Site
You are at http://www.twmjr.com (but you probably knew this already). It is my little corner of the internet. It started out back in 2006 as a place for me to work on my web development skills and post various personal items; however, it turns out that once I design and script a site, I tend not to update it very much. Fast forward to 2010 -- I stumble upon Hurricaine Electric's web hosting offers. For $1 a month I would get some web hosting space (basic HTML only -- no PHP/MySQL etc) and e-mail service. As this was all I used my domain for at this point, I jumped at it (A quick aside: I don't hesitate to recommend my previous host, Dreamhost as they were very good, and their prices are reasonable. If I still needed all the features they offer, I wouldn't have left them).
